Near Mint Condition WW1 French 1917 Dated Berthier Mle 16.
Designed by Emile Berthier in the 1880's the Berthier has been produced in the millions and used in the First and Second war.
The Mle 1916 is an updated version of the M1907/15 which was a 3-shot carbine and rifle. The Berthier series of carbines were much preferred to the rifles due to the size and single piece stock made them very accurate.
The Mle 1916 was updated to a 5-shot in an attempt to keep up with and combat the G98's 10-shot internal magazine.
This item is dated 1917 both on the stock and the receiver.
Overall the condition of this item is near MINT with no frosting or pitting to be seen only minor storage marks on the stock.
Complimented with a Smooth, Dry Firing Action.
